¿Que Pasa en Nevada? Learn More Economic Justice’s Fair Work Week!

After five days full of economic justice-related information and resources, Make the Road Nevada wrapped up its Fair Work Week on July 8th. Hosted by our former Economic Justice Organizer, Abe Lugo, we dove into four crucial points: family sustainable work, unemployment in Nevada, Nevada’s minimum wage, and rising cost of living.

This week also consisted of having informative one-on-one conversations with state leaders on ways people can become a part of the economic change in Nevada. We spoke with Commissioner Tick Segerblom on July 7th and Senator Fabian Doñate on July 8th on topics such as minimum wage, unemployment insurance, and worker advocacy.

“If this is something that we want to do to increase the minimum wage, we have to advocate and get people to vote yes this upcoming November,” said Senator Doñate during the Facebook Live with Lugo.

We ended the Fair Work Week with information on how to take action, which included getting involved with our economic justice committee on Tuesdays, staying up-to-date with our economic justice campaign by contacting our Lead Organizer, Audrey Peral, and contacting your local representatives to demand change. You can also take action this upcoming election by voting yes on Nevada’s Minimum Wage Amendment, which supports adding higher wages by July 2024.
